Our Mission
Urban Agriculture Cooperative strengthens New Jersey’s local food economy by coordinating the systems that move food from farm to community. We serve farmers, families, and local workers — the people who grow, move, and rely on fresh, local food every day — ensuring our work strengthens all three without creating burdens for any. Our goal is simple: ensure food flows reliably across the state and that the economic benefits stay rooted in local communities.
Who We Are
UAC is a practitioner-led organization building coordinated systems that connect growers, institutions, and communities. Rooted in Newark and working across New Jersey, we partner strategically with farmers, families, and local workers to strengthen the statewide food system. We envision a New Jersey where every community has reliable access to fresh, culturally relevant food and every farmer has fair, predictable markets. When logistics, relationships, and policy align, the entire state becomes healthier, more equitable, and more resilient.
What We Do
coordinating systems
We build systems that connect growers, institutions, and communities through logistics, relationships, and shared infrastructure. Our operations meet the standards of large buyers while staying grounded in the realities of small farms, with a focus on transparency, food safety, and a fair food economy that benefits growers, workers, and communities.
Removing Barriers
We address the obstacles that make it difficult for farmers to reach reliable markets, for communities to access fresh, local food, and for youth and small food entrepreneurs to enter the food system. By creating clear pathways and reducing logistical and financial barriers, we help every part of the supply chain participate fully.
Supporting Local Businesses
We work with Newark‑ and New Jersey‑based trucking operators, food entrepreneurs, processors, and co‑packers who bring creativity and energy to the local food system. By helping these businesses access shared infrastructure and reach new markets, we strengthen the supply‑chain ecosystem and keep economic benefits local.
